I am a weaver and natural dyer from Eastern Crete, Greece. Many of the women in my family have been weavers or engaged with fibres in various ways so I am following a long thread.
My textile work is deeply rooted in locality of materials, of practices, of understanding and relating with the craft and the creations. I am devoted to learning traditional Cretan weaving practices from the masters of the craft. Women that carry the knowledge in their hands and understanding what it meant for their lives. I have been teaching workshops in traditional Cretan weaving and natural dyeing as well exploring how this traditional domestic craft can be present in our lives today.
